NSO offers 4 years Bachelor of Science in Optometry (BSc. Optometry) course affiliated with RGUHS, Karnataka, where students shall undergo a period of certified study extending for three academic years followed by one year compulsory internship.
Candidates must have obtained 50% marks taken together in English, Physics, chemistry, Biology/Mathematics in the higher secondary Examination that is equivalent to 10+2. Candidates who have completed their 2/3 years of diploma in optometry can take admission directly in the second year of Bsc. Optometry. Admission to Next higher class is subjected to satisfactory Progress, behavior & attendance.
Selection is based on 10+2 marks, written test and performance in personal interview.
The course commences in August of every year. It is a full time course with theory, practical and clinical session.
At the end of each academic year, the students will be evaluated in both theory and practical. Each year will have a term end and internal assessment examination. There will be three internal assessment exams and continuous evaluation of student’s academic performance every year. Equal weightage will be there for both internal assessment and term end exam both in theory and practical. A student has to secure a minimum of 50% marks in term – end examination each year. After the successful completion of their 3 years and one year of internship the students will be awarded Bsc degree in optometry.
Our students has obtained Ranks in University Examination from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Karnataka.
For both theory and practical medium of instruction will be English. Candidates are expected to write their examination in English only.
